Dear Pastors, Principals, School Families and Friends in Christ,

The big “Phase 3” Corona Virus  relief bill (called the CARES Act) being considered in the US Senate is at a critical stage.  Currently there is a paragraph in the CARES Act allowing for non-public schools to receive relief under the Education Stabilization Fund.   We need outreach to Democratic leadership in particular, Senators Schumer and Durbin, Booker and Menendez, also if you have a relationship with other Congressional Representatives or their Staff please also call or email  them.

Email to staff is probably the best bet, if you have those relationships, as getting people on the phone is very difficult right now.  THIS IS TIME SENSITIVE.

THE ASK: Insist that the funding and “equitable services/proportional share” language for non-public schools that was included in the Sunday version of the CARES Act is retained in the version reportedly to be released today.

**Action Alert**

Action Alert: Assembly Bill 211 - STEM Reimbursement

The New Jersey Catholic Conference has issued an Action Alert regarding Assembly Bill 211. This bill establishes a loan reduction program for PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS who meet certain academic requirements and teach Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics subjects, or special education, while failing to include nonpublic school teachers in any opportunity for the reimbursement. We are making every effort to get the Assembly version amended to INCLUDE OUR QUALIFIED TEACHERS in the grant program because of the stated purpose of the bill to increase quality STEM education in all of New Jersey’s schools.

Please click the link below to read to full Action Alert, including contact information for the members of the Assembly Science, Innovation, and Technology Committee.
